Dear Readers,

REFLEXOLOGY AT THE BEAUTY ISLAND SANCTUARY

We have introduced reflexology at The Beauty Island Sanctuary a while ago and are working in partnership with Monika Carter, a highly qualified reflexologist.  We thought it would be useful to give you some further information about Monika and what she does for her clients.

Biog – Monika Carter BA(Hons), PRM, CRM5

Monika’s journey with reflexology started few years ago when my body and mind gave up on me.   Years of forgetting about myself and living with prolonged stress finally caught up with her , and her body said “enough”.

She discovered alternative/complementary therapies and reflexology screamed to her the loudest. Reflexology became her  passion.  She has studied for a very long time in one of very few schools in the UK that trains only level 5 (the highest in UK) and graduated with the title of Centralia Reflexology Master ship Level 5.

Monika automatically became a member of the Association of Professional Reflexologists, the only professional body that accepts ONLY level 5 therapists.   She quickly realised that having a BA in Psychology would become a valuable addition to her existing qualifications.

In 2016, to further enhance her skills, she qualified in Facial Reflexology developed by Ziggie Bergman.  A reflexologist to the stars, Ziggie’s treatment concentrates on helping clients to build up emotional resilience to ageing.   We all know that getting older and ‘losing’ our looks is not easy, but Ziggie believes we must make peace with the process.  See interesting article on the following link: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4080444/Botox-BACKLASH-anti-ageing-procedure

Because of Monika’s personal experience with mental health issues and, because being a women, her main focus is obviously female health, and stress-related conditions in both sexes.   Her clients range from children to the elderly, ladies who just need “me time”, pregnant ladies who want to ease the symptoms of pregnancy and to prepare for labour,  to  people with depression, insomnia and other related conditions.

She has her own blog where once a month she covers one condition her clients suffer from https://worthingtherapies.wordpress.com/.

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a precise complementary therapy, not a beauty treatment. It is complementary to any medical treatment being received.   Reflexologists believe that the feet reflect the body.

Reflexologists don’t claim to cure and we do not diagnose!

Reflexology has proven (in addition to wonderful relaxation) to help with conditions such as the following:

  • Stress & anxiety
  • Sleep disorders
  • Hormonal imbalance
  • Digestive problems

All products Monika uses are vegetarian-friendly;  they do however contain beeswax so if you are vegan please ask for a different product before the treatment.      Products do not have any nasty chemicals and are made by local Aromatherapists at Moogwax (an aromatherapy company).  https://www.moogwax.co.uk/index.php

By applying gentle pressure to the feet in an accurate and well-formulated manner, reflexologists believe that they are working indirectly with each and every area of the boy.   The aim is to help create the conditions in which clients’ own powerful healing system can work to the best of its ability.

Treatment

In chronic conditions foot reflexology is recommended once a week for the first 4 treatments or once a month for relaxation  purposes, or as often as you wish

What is Facial Reflexology?

facial reflexology

This amazing method is built on a combination of Native American techniques and Asian Body maps that chart the reflex points on the face.

Facial Reflexology: The Bergman Method works on the same principal as foot reflexology. The stimulation of points and zones on the surface of the face send impulses to the nervous system and meridians – encouraging good blood circulation, lymphatic drainage and hormonal balance

In addition to the health benefits, clients also benefit from glowing skin.   The treatment stimulates facial nerves, muscles and tissues, releasing tension, encouraging better skin, improving complexion and helping to reduce the wrinkles.

Two facial oil are used during this treatment:

Rose facial oil – this oil has some antiseptic properties, anti-depressant properties, aids skin toning and lifting, helps with acne.

Frankincense facial oil – amongst many other benefits this oil helps reduce the appearance of fine line and wrinkles

Both oils are made by local an Aromatherapist so again no nasty ingredients!   Vegan and vegetarian friendly.

Treatment

Monika recommends weekly sessions of facial reflexology for 4-6 weeks and;  later reducing treatments to once a month.

For an appointment for either of these treatments, please call The Beauty Island Sanctuary on 01903 206954.
